Those in need serving those in need.....
alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5493897006615255202" />
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of comapssion and the God of all comfort, who comfots us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. " 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Yesterday Hope, Maru, Meme and four others from the Rio took a prepared meal to Rio 3 to serve the people there. It was quite the experience seeing the women and one man prepare a meal for 300 and travel across the city to serve it to a community they knew nothing about. Well, Meme had been there two other times to see the ministry site and talk with Olga the woman who leads the soup kitchen. God was good to us as he lead us there safely, we were about to serve about 150 people and even spoke to a family or too as we "toured" the destruction. I asked one family what it was like when the rains came. I asked if they were scared. One ladies answer was quick and confident. "No, I wasn't scared, when you have Christ in your heart, you don't need to fear." The other women spoke how the church there (its the soup kitchen and church that Jim and Betty champion for B2B as they support Olga) was having services and serving three meals a day. Meme, Benny, China, Perla and Beto were exchanging experiences of how the river wasn't always a friend to them as well. As I listened I remembered 2 Cor. 1. How God gives us comfort so we could comfort others with the comfort we ourselves experienced from Him. The day was long and full of images I don't want to forget. But these ladies and one man returned to their home full of the Joy that comes with serving the Lord and sharing in His comfort.

Tropical Storm Alex hits Monterrey, Mx June, 30, 2010
Thursday June 30th we were hit with Tropical Storm Alex. After 40 hours of rain we had received 36 inches of rain. God has protected us and those we serve as we don't know of any deaths as of yet. However property and people's home have not faired so well. There have been casualties but as the pictures show its amazing it isn't more. During these past days this psalm has risen to the surface. We are standing on every word. If you have an interest
Here is what we are asking for:
Recovery funds
They can be sent to Back2Back Ministries and will be completely tax deductible. You can champion a specific area (one of the children’s homes or a rio community or a teen home) or it can be specifically for the campus (the dorms, infrastructure, etc…) or it can be for “wherever is needed” which will be spent according to a priority list of both immediate needs and long-term solutions.
Prayer
We are grateful for all the ways God has been ever present, protecting, directing, giving strength, etc… Continue to pray for our staff and the teens on campus who are pitching in on the recovery efforts and are working very hard. Pray for our friends in the squatter’s villages, many of whom have lost literally everything they had. Pray for the children in the homes, that they understand the shelter God provides for us in this and every storm of our lives.
Networking
If you know someone who has been to Monterrey, or who might have a heart or interest in helping with the relief effort, please reach out to them on our behalf and have them contact:

Psalm 46<
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A song.
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah
Come and see the works of the LORD,
the desolations he has brought on the earth,
He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear,
he burns the shields
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.
The LORD Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
